I FEEL THE EARTH MOVE

All of you know this but there is a great new reissue of the classic Carole King album, now known as a CD, Tapestry. It contains an entire set of Carole singing live with a piano. Amazing.

Also check out Shelby Lynne paying homage to Dusty. So refreshing to hear instruments!

I'm tired of white people being afraid of black people. I'm tired of black people shooting each other in the foot. I'm tired of politics.

And John and Cindy get a Get out of Arizona free card.

Make Mine Rice

About a week ago a woman I work with mentioned the price of rice. I didn't think much about it. Now I read that starvation and food riots are on the rise.

Speculation? War in Iraq? 7 years of lousy policy from Washington which has impacted the world?

Gas: 3.56 in Houston.

Earth Day

40 years ago, I was in Southern Illinois, attending SIU. There was an earthquake.

40 years later, another quake in Southern Illinois on the day before Earth Day. Is Mama Earth trying to tell us something?

Ah Weight

Standing in the kitchen, eating cold pasta from the frig, I knew I was out of control.

What led me to this point yet again. Forever and ever my addiction to food trumps everything else.

Lose it gain it. The battle I can't win.

I've survived 58 years. Been an out gay man for most of that time. Been called billions of names, survived. Been broke, been flush. But damn it to hell, weight continues to be an issue.

Last year lost it, this year gained it. Is is the wine? Is it the cold pasta from the frig. Is it an emptiness I try to fill?

Maybe this is another step. I don't know.
